With people from all around the globe craving fresh content, whether Films, Television, or Video Games, the scope is bigger than ever now. If you want to know the main difference between 2D vs 3D Animation, it is the basic fact that 2D is more artistic whereas 3D is more mechanical. 2D takes comparatively more effort as it is required to draw
For me, 2d animations are much more interesting and impressive to look at than 3d animations. I feel like 99% of animated films are 3d, and it's getting pretty generic. I like animation as much as the next guy, but I think that 2d animations are better than 3d animations. It just looks more appealing.
3D pays better and has wider job prospects across games, features, television and VFX. Plus there are several auxiliary 3D disciplines like modelling, texturing, Character TD etc. 2D is pretty cool and there is a route to go there, but it is more competitive and there are less strictly 2D projects out there than 3D.
Designers can even use formulas to specify dimensions and angles relative to other features. This intelligent design is becoming an industry standard in the 3D CAD world and is an essential feature in any modern, high-end 3D CAD system such as SOLIDWORKS. SOLIDWORKS can also quickly create AutoCAD-style 2D drawing layouts.
All the participants were shown five-minute clips of four films in both 2D and 3D. Without have to watch the full movie, each chosen film clips prompted one discrete emotion intensely and in context. The four movies are 1. My Bloody Valentine (fear), 2. Despicable Me (amusement), 3. Tangled (sadness), and 4.
Usually i’d say 2D is faster to develop then 3D Art especially if you’re aiming for 8bit or 16bit style. For most ppl it’s also easier to learn 2D then 3D modelling, rigging and animation. Ofc. if you’re a 3D expert, you might be faster with 3D then with 2D. In the end, not everyone is able to master 3D and not everyone can do good
There are many reasons 3d is easier than 2d but the main reasons include. 1 . You Do Not Need to Learn Perspective. Judging how big something is in relation to the camera and other objects can be a difficult task in 2d. It involves a lot of practice, a keen eye, and techniques to get it perfect.
A quick read though the answers and I didn't see one point mentioned. 2D gives you a much better control of scope. Whether a game is using Sprites or 3d models, a conceptual 2d view allows a clearly defined view that has very particular properties. A full 3d camera perspective (1st or 3rd person) can only really show the view of the frustum.
